After 24 hours of non-stop code challenge, and facing 215 coders, Team Kalchul won the 2019 Krakathon. Some 4000 points later, we find BlackFire Ltd and Binary Beasts (tied). And in 3rd position, we find Lazy Pirates, while a special prize was awarded to The Razers.

Black Fire team second place

It's now the go-to for coders in October every year, ready to challenge the Kraken at all costs. Moreover, they were in force, with 215 participants registered during this edition, more intense than the previous ones. Strategy, coding, and a relentless but often unsuccessful struggle against sleep were the outlines of this new version 2.0 treasure hunt.

So it was our Team Kalchul who defeated the Kraken in the 2019 edition, with a score of 14,525 points. Then, BlackFire (from BlackFire Ltd) and Binary Beasts share the second step of the podium with a tied score of 10,775 points. Lazy Pirates tried as best they could to catch up with them, totaling a score of 10,300 points, thus taking away the 3rd prize. The Razers team also stood out and won a special Uni award.

Return on the course of the competition. Kraken hunters were given 24 hours to code nonstop. Thus, on October 19, they were expected at the Caudan Art Center for the registration of teams and the installation of equipment. After a detailed presentation of the Hackathon, the teams had the opportunity to discuss their strategy or obtain any missing elements. After lunch, around 1:30 p.m., hostilities begin! From 2 p.m. to midnight on Saturdays, it's unlimited coding and fun.

The next day, breakfast is offered to participants. Then, the last straight line for our seasoned coders (or not). Now is the time to give your all to collect as many points as possible and win the treasure. The latter, amounting to Rs 80,000, went back into the hands of our lucky winners of the 2019 Krakathon, the Kalchul team.

As a reminder, in 2016, during the very first edition, team 42 posted 8,450 points and won the treasure amounting to RS 50,000. In 2017, the Force Coders left with the spoils of RS 60,000. As for the 2018 edition, it saw the coronation of Rubiks, the big winner of this shock of the titans, who left with Rs 80,000 and a ProLite LCD screen. A tighter match than this year. Indeed, the Rubiks team collected 11185 points, against 10935 points for our team, Wachawi by LSL Digital.
